DRT Contracting recently completed an extensive 700-foot underground drainage pipe installation designed to replace an open ditch and provide the property owner with a safer, cleaner, and easier-to-maintain drainage system.
This project demonstrates why effective drainage work requires more than simply putting pipe in the ground. Proper excavation, elevation, bedding, connections, and final grading all play a role in how the system performs over the long term.
From Open Ditch to Underground Drainage
The existing ditch created ongoing maintenance challenges for the property owner. DRT Contracting developed a solution that maintained necessary water flow while allowing the open drainage area to be eliminated.
✔️ Approximately 700 feet of drainage pipe installed
✔️ Existing ditch excavation
✔️ Proper pipe placement and alignment
✔️ Aggregate bedding around the drainage system
✔️ Culvert and existing drainage connections
✔️ Backfilling and final grading
Proper Installation Matters
Long underground drainage runs depend on consistent elevation and proper installation. Poorly installed drainage pipe can hold water, settle, clog, or simply move a flooding problem somewhere else on the property.
DRT Contracting uses professional excavation equipment and proven site-work practices to create drainage systems designed around the actual conditions of the property.
Improving Property Maintenance & Water Management
Once completed, the underground system allows stormwater to continue moving through the property while giving the customer a cleaner area that can be safely maintained without working around an open ditch.
The finished project provides both a functional drainage improvement and a significant improvement to the usability of the property.
